Unplanned but Unforgettable trip: Chasing Waterfalls and Conquering heights in Pangasinan

Sometimes, the best adventures are the ones that take us away from the noise of reality and into the heart of nature. Our trip to Maranum Falls and Sky Plaza in Natividad, Pangasinan, was exactly that, a refreshing journey filled with breathtaking views, rewarding climbs, and unforgettable memories.

Our adventure began at Maranum Falls, a hidden gem within the forest. Everywhere we looked, we were surrounded by lush greenery, a true paradise for nature lovers. The air was crisp and refreshing, making the short trek to the falls enjoyable rather than tiring. With towering trees providing shade and the cool breeze accompanying us, the walk felt like an escape into a serene world. When we finally reached the falls, it was a sight to behold, crystal clear waters cascading down the rocks, creating a mesmerizing view. Unfortunately, we didn’t bring extra clothes, so instead of taking a dip, we simply sat back and soaked in the beauty of the moment. The sound of the rushing water was calming, almost meditative, allowing us to momentarily forget our worries. We stayed for about an hour, appreciating the peaceful ambiance before heading to our next destination.

Not far from Maranum Falls is Sky Plaza, home to the famous ‘Ayat ni Hesus’ statue, standing at an impressive 40 feet. However, reaching the top was no easy feat, it required climbing 1,217 steps! We took our time, pausing after about 100 steps to catch our breath and have a quick snack. The resting area provided a stunning view of the falls we had just visited, along with the surrounding houses and winding roads. It was a beautiful reminder of how far we had come. As we resumed our climb, we were treated to a spectacular sunset, painting the sky with hues of orange, pink, and purple. The sight of the sun dipping below the horizon as we ascended made the effort even more worthwhile.

Along the way, we came across statues of beloved Disney princesses, including Snow White and Rapunzel, which added a whimsical touch to the journey. What surprised us the most were the life-sized statues depicting the different stages of Jesus’ journey to the cross, making the climb not just physically challenging but also spiritually moving. With each step, the anticipation grew, pushing us forward despite the exhaustion. When we finally reached the top, the sense of accomplishment was overwhelming. The massive sign congratulating climbers on completing the 1,217 steps made us pause and appreciate what we had just achieved.

We spent almost an hour at the peak, taking in the panoramic views and capturing photos as souvenirs. The combination of the towering Christ statue, the breathtaking sunset, and the feeling of standing above the world made the experience truly unforgettable. As nightfall approached, we decided to descend before it got too dark. Though the journey was physically demanding, every step was worth it.

This trip reminded us that sometimes, the most beautiful places require a little effort to reach but once you get there, the reward is beyond words. Whether it's the soothing waters of Maranum Falls or the awe-inspiring view from Sky Plaza, Natividad, Pangasinan, is definitely a destination worth visiting for those who seek adventure, peace, and a connection with nature.
